Fellows are required to pass state licensing exams in order to earn their ESL or Special Education teaching license in Minnesota.
All Fellows must complete the PRAXIS I: Pre-Professional Skills Tests (PPST) if they have not already done so. The PPST measures basic academic skills in the areas of reading, writing and math. The PPST is offered as a computer-based or paper-based test.
Fellows will also be required to take the PRAXIS II: Subject Assessments and Specialty Area Tests and PRAXIS II: Principles of Learning and Teaching in order to receive a teaching license in Minnesota. With the Principles of Learning and Teaching, prospective teachers choose one grade level to test for (K-6, 5-9 or 7-12). The test content is the same for each test, but the questions and examples are related to that grade level.
Educational Testing Services (www.ets.org) is an organization that provides the PRAXIS series tests. When you visit their home page, click on PRAXIS under the Tests section. There are several items to choose from under the section labeled "For Test Takers", including information about the tests, how to register and how to prepare for the test.
The following documents below may help you register and prepare for the tests.
