Pre-Retirement Planning Seminar Series

St. Paul Public Schools’ Human Resources is sponsoring a series of pre-retirement seminars in February 2013. The seminars consist of three different sessions outlined below:

SESSION 1: SOCIAL SECURITY & PUBLIC PENSION

Monday, February 25, 2013 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm

360 Colborne, Rooms D, E, and F

This seminar will cover details about the public pension plans (presented by representatives from Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA) and Saint Paul Teachers’ Retirement Fund Association (SPTRFA), respectively). Jim Czechowicz, from the Office of Public Affairs, will also present important information on Social Security and Medicare.

SESSION 2: RETIREMENT TRANSITION

Tuesday, February 26, 2013 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm

360 Colborne, Rooms D, E, and F

Presented by Bob Regenfuss, Regional Manager of Retirement Services at Transamerica Retirement Management. This seminar will cover the right questions to ask and the decisions you need to make in order to successfully transition into retirement. It will also give you an understanding of the five key areas that are critical to a successful and sustainable plan for retirement.

SESSION 3: DISTRICT BENEFITS

Wednesday, February 27, 2013 from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm

360 Colborne, Rooms E and F

Presented by Sarah Meyer, Saint Paul Public Schools, Human Resources Consultant. This seminar will provide information on the District’s personnel policies and retiree insurance benefits. It also includes details on the District’s severance program.

RSVP: The seminars are open to all employees and their spouses; however, space is limited. If you would like to attend the seminars, reservations will be taken on a first-come basis until February 21, 2013. Reserve your attendance to one or all of the seminars by emailing sarah.meyer@spps.org. You will receive a confirmation email of your reservation. Please indicate your name, and if a spouse will be attending, employee ID, title, dates of attendance. Phone reservations will not be accepted.

ü Check your bargaining agreement contract to determine if you qualify for post-retirement insurance benefits.

ü Attend a group Retirement Session to enroll in the District Retiree insurance before the end of May 2013.
