Employee Resource Groups

With more than 38,000 students, Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS) is Minnesota's second-largest district. SPPS educates 76% (roughly 29,000) students of color and employs 21% staff of color. Our district is committed to promoting and supporting diversity within our own organization and to demonstrate this commitment in the communities we serve. At Saint Paul Public Schools we recognize, respect and appreciate the valuable and different perspectives that each of us bring to the work environment, our students, and our community.

SPPS Mission: Provide a premier education for all.
SPPS Vision: Schools at the Heart of the Community

Employee Resource Groups help to connect SPPS employees who have a common interest and/or background. This is done through the following activities:

  • Employee recruitment and retention,
  • Networking events,
  • Employee professional development sessions,
  • Community outreach.

Following are the ERG's supported by SPPS:

  • Advocates for Leadership (AFL) - This group facilitates Latino/Hispanic professional development, community and educational outreach, networking, and leadership.

  • Hmong with a mission for outreach, network, and growth (H.M.O.N.G) - This group provides a place to share resources, enrich professional growth, and connect with SPPS Hmong staff, students and community.

  • LGBT Employee Network - This group is devoted to creating and maintaining an inclusive and supportive work environment for all Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Ally Saint Paul Public School employees.
